Introduction / History

The Muslim Bansphor live in Uttar Pradesh in India. They used to be Hindus but converted to Islam. They make bamboo furniture and live mostly in Rohikhand and Doab and in the Moradabad District. The Muslim Bansphor come from the Dom group.

The Muslim Bansphor marry within their own group. They live in multi-caste villages but have their own living accommodation. There are caste councils among them called Panchayats who look after and judge in local matters. They are Sunni Muslims but are involved in folk Islam also. They sell their bamboo furniture at local markets.

Many of the Muslim Bansphor are agricultural workers while some have gone to live in Delhi or other cities to work. They are poor financially and are not able to make use of government aid due to not having the status needed. The Muslim Bansphor speak Khari Boli and Urdu.

Prayer Points

* Pray that having changed religion once that the Muslim Bansphor will realize that the Truth was not found there. Pray they find the only Way to God.
* Pray that gospel materials will bring them to salvation too.
