The Cumanagoto are a Native American people who only live in Venezuela.
Traditionally, they grew sweet potatoes, manioc, maize, and cocoa trees. They gathered food from the wilderness. Most of their meat came from hunting, not from domesticated animals.
They used wooden barriers to defend their villages. Living in a warm tropical climate, they wore very few clothes, but they wore ornaments such as feathers, gold, bones, teeth, flowers, pearls, gold or shells. Only the chief had more than one wife.
The Cumanagoto culture is dying out, and so is their language. Few if any speak it. Others speak Spanish as their first language.
