Introduction / History

The Muthan people live in the forests and hills of Kerala, a state in southwestern India.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Although they were provided with a government "rehabilitation package" most prefer to live in their traditional forest home. Some work on cashew plantations. Others cut bamboo or trees and sell their goods. Some grow plantains and tapioca. Some fields of the Muthans are leased to the people in the town at throwaway prices. The Muthan try to combine a modern civilization and lifestyle.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Muthans worship a hill goddess along with some of the Hindu gods and goddesses.

What Are Their Needs?

The Muthan people need job training so they can function well in 21st century Kerala. They are very vulnerable at this time.

Prayer Points

Pray for good schools for the Muthan children and youth.

Pray God will have mercy on the Muthan doing whatever it takes to place them in a position to receive him.

Ask God to open the hearts of the Muthan to the gospel.

Pray for an unstoppable movement to Christ among the Muthan people.
