Introduction / History

At one time the Balantak were ruled by a chief; they were part of the Ternate Sultanate.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Balantak homes are usually scattered among their rice fields. Others are formed in small clusters surrounding the home of their chief. They grow rice, millet, taro and yams. The Balantak raise chickens and goats for their meat.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Traditional Balantak beliefs involved ancestor worship, but now most are either Muslim or Christian.

What Are Their Needs?

The Balantak people need to find their way to the cross and the empty grave. As it stands, there are Christians among them, but most are looking for truth in the wrong places.

Prayer Points

Pray for a spiritual hunger for truth among the Balantak people.
Pray for Balantak elders to have dreams and visions of Jesus Christ.
Pray for Balantak disciples to make more disciples.
