Introduction / History

The Kayastha Saksena of Delhi migrated from Uttar Pradesh. They speak Hindi and read and write in Devanagari. They are not vegetarians and eat wheat and rice.

The Saksena are usually monogamous. They have large families. The divorced and bereaved can marry again. The dead are cremated. Hinduism is their religion. They worship their ancestors too.

The traditional work of the Saksena is writing and accounting. They now work for the government or in private service. Some are in business and trade.

They believe in education and use modern medicines and family planning. They have a Society that looks after their well-being.
