Introduction / History

The Kumhar Baradia live in Uttar Pradesh. They speak Bhojpuri and Hindi and read and write in Devanagari. They are not vegetarians who eat wheat and rice. Hinduism is their religion.

The Kumhar Baradia have birth, marriage and death rituals. Divorce and marrying again are allowed. On the death of the father, sons inherit the property with the oldest son becoming in charge of the home. The dead are cremated.

The Kumhar Baradia make pots and toys from clay. Traditional councils look after them. The children are educated to primary school level. They use modern medicines and family planning.

Prayer Points

* Pray that the council leaders will come to Jesus Christ and lead others to Him.
* Pray that gospel materials will lead them to salvation.
* Pray that the church around the world will remember them in intercession.
