Introduction / History

The Natavallolu are also called Balija Bogam. The word Bogam is to do with pleasure as their traditional work was to do with dancing. Not many of them do that now. Hinduism is their religion. They speak, read and write in Telugu and Kannada. They are not vegetarians and eat rice as a cereal.

The Natavallolu do have cousin marriages. Marriages are adult and through discussion. Male divorcees and widowers can marry again. There are marriage rituals. Sons and daughters get same shares of the property on the death of the father. The professionals among them cremate the dead while the rest of them bury the dead.

The Natavallolu work mainly in agriculture and in businesses. They make use of government help. Most of them live in Karnataka with some of them living in Andhra Pradesh too.
