Introduction

The ethnic background of the Tungur people is unknown, though some scholars believe they have roots among the Arab peoples of North Africa. Hundreds of years ago they were merged with one of the Fur tribes, but before that happened, the last Tungur leader was driven out because he compelled his subjects to dig wells and level a mountain peak.

Ministry Obstacles

There are no believers among the Tungur people to demonstrate the power of the Holy Spirit working in lives. They live in a land where Sunni Islam remains unchallenged.

Outreach Ideas

Believers from other people groups can take Bible portions, gospel recordings and audio New Testament materials to Tungur communities. They will need to be careful to work with local leaders.

Pray for the Followers of Christ

Pray that this will be the year when there will be the first believers among the Tungur people of Sudan.

Pray for the Entire People Group

Pray for the Holy Spirit to woo them to the side of the True God. Pray for them to be discipled in the ways of Jesus Christ, the only Savior.
