Introduction

The Tanti are weavers. They were known for their great skill in weaving and the ability to produce both fine linens as well as more common fabrics. Not too long ago, virtually every home would have had a loom and cloth present. Today, much of their trade has been taken over by factory production and imported goods. Many are now doing subsistence-level work either weaving or other manual labor within villages where they often do not have clean water or a steady food supply. A few have moved into cities and achieved an education and greater roles in society. This is still, however, limited to a small percentage of the overall people group.

Ministry Obstacles

There are probably no Christians among the Tanti, nor are there many in the parts of India where they also live. Few will ever hear the life-saving gospel unless messengers bring the wonderful gospel to them.

Outreach Ideas

Pray for the Followers of Christ

Pray for the Entire People Group

Pray for the Tanti to have adequate potable water.
Pray for a spiritual hunger among Tanti leaders that will open this Hindu community to the gospel.
Pray for Tanti disciples who will make more disciples.
Pray for loving and dedicated workers.
The Tanti speak Bengali, a language with all kinds of gospel materials. Pray for these materials to reach them and for them to have open hearts.
