Introduction / History

The Singpho of India live in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and also in Meghalaya where there are a small number of Christians. In Arunachal Pradesh the Singpho live in Lohit and Changlang. In Assam they live in the Tinsukia district.

What Are Their Lives Like?

They drink rice beer from boiled roots. They also drink tea. They are exogamous (meaning that they do not prohibit marriages outside their group) and have cross-cousin marriages. They have several clans and are governed by chiefs.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Buddhism is their religion and they sacrifice buffaloes and other animals. The Singpho believe in a fall from grace, but they believe that it was because of bathing in forbidden water which caused them to become mortal.

What Are Their Needs?

The SIngpho people need the opportunity to accept the abundant life that only Jesus Christ can offer.

Prayer Points

Pray that the Singpho are shown in Genesis how mankind fell from grace, and how we all need a Savior. Pray that the Singpho chiefs come to Jesus Christ and lead their entire community into a movement to Christ.
