The Pomlas are a tribal group with low status. They suffer from poverty.
They live in western India, especially the states of Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Parents arrange marriages for their children. Marriages are monogamous, meaning that there is one husband and one wife.
Members of this community are usually landless, and they are very poor. Most are either day laborers or they sell things they find in the forest.
This is a Hinduized tribe that believes in ghosts and spirits as well as Krishna and Ganesh, two popular Hindu deities. They believe the spirit world brings about diseases. They have clan deities that they worship as well. Though they are mostly animistic on a daily level, they are faithful to participate in Hindu festivals.
The Pomla people need to find ways to earn a decent living in 21st century India.
Pray for networks of believing Pomla families and fellowships that will throw the doors open for others to follow Jesus.
Pray for the Lord to bless the families among the Pomla people with his presence and mercy.
Pray for believers among this people group to disciple others who will disciple still others.
Pray for Bible believing fellowships and churches among the Pomla people.
