Introduction / History

The Nalkadaya have low status in Hindu society.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Nalkadaya people face discrimination and rejection.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Nalkadaya people practice Hinduism, the ancient religion of India. Hinduism is a catch-all phrase for the local religions of South Asia, so it is very diverse. They have a special ritual honoring those who died at birth by marrying them to others who met the same fate.

Almost all Hindus participate in yearly celebrations like Holi, the festival of colors and the start of spring / Diwali, the festival of lights / Navratri, the celebration of autumn / and Rama Navami, Rama’s birthday.

What Are Their Needs?

The Nalkadaya have a low literacy rate. The gospel must be presented to the Nalkadaya families in ways appropriate to oral learners. There are few known believers among the Nalkadaya.

Prayer Points

Pray that Nalkadaya who will know Jesus will become effective and fruitful in sharing and discussing Bible stories with their own and other families.
Pray that a strong movement to Jesus will bring whole Nalkadaya families and communities into a rich experience of God's blessing.
