Introduction / History

The Nagar of India are originally from Rajasthan. In West Bengal they speak, read and write in Bengali. They are not vegetarians and eat wheat and rice as cereals.

Marriages usually take place by discussion. They prefer monogamy. The bereaved can marry again. Sons and daughters inherit the property with the oldest son in charge of the home when the father dies. They have birth and marriage rituals and the dead are cremated. Hinduism is their religion. They are educated and use modern medicines and family planning.

In Bihar the Nagar speak Agika and Hindi and read and write in Devanagari. Sons inherit the property. They have caste councils.

Prayer Points

* Pray that Nagar caste council leaders will come to Jesus Christ and lead others to Him.
* Pray that God will give the Nagar dreams and visions leading them to salvation.
