Introduction / History

The Mang Garudi are a Scheduled Caste in Maharashtra. They were nomads who migrated. They are not vegetarians and eat beef and pork. The word mang means beggars. They speak Marathi. Hinduism is their religion.

They are endogamous. Marriage is by discussion. There are cousin marriages. There are snake charmers, beggars, jugglers and acrobats among them. Most of them now are laborers.

The Mang Garudi have a low literacy level, so the gospel will need to be given in oral form too. They use modern medicines.

They live in Gujarat and Karnataka too.

Prayer Points

* Pray that gospel recordings will lead them to Jesus Christ.
* Pray that dreams and visions will lead them to salvation.
