Introduction / History

The Meda are a Scheduled Tribe of Karnataka. They have two groups, one who speak Kodagu and the other who speak Kannada. They read and write in Kannada. Hinduism is their religion.

The Meda have some cousin marriages. They have festivals. The main work they do is basket making and cultivation. They have a council of elders to settle disagreements among them.

The Meda believe in education. Family planning is used by them. They have streams and wells to get water from.
