Introduction / History

The Kudumban are a scheduled caste, which means they have mid-level status in Hindu society. Some of them would like to not be listed as such. In addition to Tamil Nadu, the Kudumban live in Karnataka and in Kerala. They speak Tamil.

What Are Their Lives Like?

They work as agricultural laborers. Women help in social and religious matters as well as men. The Kudumban prefer marriages between cousins. They believe in education but the literacy level is low, so the gospel will need to be given in oral form.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Hinduism is their religion, but there is a strong enough Christian minority that can potentially reach them for Christ.

What Are Their Needs?

The Kudumban people need the abundant life that only Jesus offers.

Prayer Points

Pray that God will give them dreams and visions leading many to a relationship with Christ. Pray that Kudumban Christian believers will lead them into a disciple making movement. Pray that gospel recordings and the JESUS Film will become easily available to them.
