Introduction / History

The Kudumban are a scheduled caste living in Tamil Nadu. They speak Tamil. Hinduism is their religion. They are not vegetarian and eat millet as a cereal.

The Kudumban prefer marriages between cousins. They work as agricultural laborers. Women help in social and religious matters as well.

The Kudumban believe in education but the literacy level is low, so the gospel will need to be given in oral form too. They use modern medicines and also family planning.

In addition to Tamil Nadu, the Kudumban live in Karnataka and in Kerala.
