Introduction / History

The Habura community lives mainly in urban centers of Uttar Pradesh. They claim that they were once Rajputs, but after rebelling against a Muslim leader who tried to convert these Hindus by force, they were defeated, and they had to live off what they could find in the jungles. From there they began a life of armed robbery and burglary. They live in the northern states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and New Delhi.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Some of them have continued being thieves, but others are farmers or farm workers.

What Are Their Beliefs?

The Habura people are Hindus, and Kala Dev is their clan deity. They worship him before committing a burglary.

What Are Their Needs?

The Habura people need to accept the blessings of taking Christ as their only God. He offers them dignity and a way to become a blessing to those around them.

Prayer Points

Pray that the Lord will turn the Habura people from robbery and towards the savior who can make them a blessing to those around them.

Pray for the Habura people to have a strong hunger and thirst for righteousness that will lead them to Christ.

Pray that they will have ready access to Christian materials in their language, Hindi.

Pray for a movement to Christ among them that will bless them in every way.
