Introduction / History

They have birth and marriage rituals. Most of the Buna people live in Odisha in the Puri District and Cuttack, but a smaller number are in Bangladesh. This group speaks, reads and writes in Bengali.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The main work of the Buna is weaving. They weave saris among other items. Some work in agriculture. On the death of the father, the sons inherit the property with the oldest son becoming the new head of the household. The Buna are not vegetarians.
