Introduction / History

The Rai Bhat Muslim live in Uttar Pradesh. They are Sunni Muslims who speak Urdu and Hindi and read and write in Perso-Arabic and Devanagari. They are not vegetarians and eat wheat and rice.

The Rai Bhat have cousin marriages. Monogamy is the usual way. They have birth rituals. Divorce and marrying again are allowed. On the death of the father, the children inherit the property with sons getting more than the daughters. The dead are buried.

The Rai Bhat work in cultivation mainly. They are not well educated so the gospel will need to be given in oral form too. They use modern medicines and to a degree, family planning.

Prayer Points

* Pray that as the Rai Bhat read about Jesus in the Koran, they will read the Bible and come to Jesus Christ.
* Pray that God will give them dreams and visions leading them to salvation.
* Pray that gospel recordings will lead them to Jesus Christ too.
