Introduction / History

Ukaan is a language group in Nigeria comprised of four languages in a dialect cluster.

Where Are they Located?

They are located at Ishe, Auga and Ikakumo are located in Akoko north east in Ondo state while Ikakumo and Ayanran are located in Akoko-edo in Edo state.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Ukaan are a very simple people and few are educated. They engage incultivating yam, cassava, cocoa, cashew nut and corn. They also raise animals. The majority of them are living in rural areas.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Ukaan believe that there is a supreme being, despite some following traditional religions. Ukaan also believe that any stranger in their midst has become their own brother. They are very happy when welcoming visitors.
