Slovakia was part of Czechoslovakia until it became an independent country in 1993. The Slovak language has some similarities to Czech but is different. When communism fell, many were faced with unemployment, so they went to countries with stronger economies like Denmark.
Guests to a Slovak home usually take off their shoes. Men and women have the same rights under the law, including inheritance of property.
Cabbage soup is well liked as is dumplings with cheese. The Slovaks like folk music, going to movies and making pottery. Their favorite sports include soccer, ice hockey and tennis. Many work in industry.
Most Slovaks are traditional Catholics and many are atheists. Others adhere to religious rituals and New Age practices to fill the spiritual void.
In Denmark, the Slovak population is largely Christian, but very few are Bible-believing Christians. They need a firm commitment to Jesus Christ followed by discipleship.
Pray that the religious traditionalists and even atheists will come to a living relationship with Jesus Christ.
Pray that those struggling to find rented housing will look to Jesus Christ and give their lives to him.
Pray for the Slovakian Church to take up their role in being Christ s ambassadors to the lost.
