Introduction

The Rashaida are a Bedouin people populating either side of the Red Sea coming from a major tribe in mainland Arabia about 150 years ago. They are a nomadic people who often live in tents made of goatskins and herdsmen who primarily raise goats and sheep. Despite being by majority illiterate, they memorize the pedigree of their animals in great detail, keeping mental records of their herds over seven or eight generations of the flock. The Rashaida have been known to be extremely hospitable and open to extending kindness to strangers.

Ministry Obstacles

Until recently, there were no known believers among the Rashaida. Though this changed during the Eritrean and Ethiopia border war from 1998 to 2000, when many interacted with others who knew Christ, the numbers of believers remain low. Their constant movement as nomads makes connecting and maintaining relationships with them difficult.

Outreach Ideas

Pray for the Followers of Christ

Pray for the Entire People Group

Pray for peace in the lives of the Rashaida families and lengthened stability in Sudan.
Pray for the few followers of Christ who exist and work in the Rashaida community and for any believers who will soon come into their faith.
Pray that they may build up a great community with each other.
Pray for Rashaida to receive the gospel message and spread it far and wide.
