Introduction / History

The Arekuna Pemons are defined by their language, Pemon, a Cariban language. Most live in Venezuela, but some also reside in either Brazil or Guyana.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Most Pemons work in the tourist industry. They work in motels, restaurants, and tourist sites. Some put on cultural displays of music and dance for tourists. They are losing their old culture and becoming more like the Latino population.

What Are Their Beliefs?

The Pemons are strongly Roman Catholic, but many are Evangelical.

What Are Their Needs?

The Pemons need training to help them advance in their careers. Some can learn motel and restaurant management for example.

Prayer Points

Pray for vibrant Christians to give them the training they need to advance in the tourist industry.
Pray for Pemon disciples to disciple many others.
Pray for a Holy Spirit-sent revival in Pemon churches that will draw them into a closer relationship with the Lord.
Pray that soon, Pemons will be taking Christ to the least-reached tribes of Brazil.
