Introduction / History

The Mondropolon people live along the north central coast of Manus Island. All age groups have a positive attitude toward the Mondropolon language. Most of them also use the Kurti language, the language spoken by their eastern neighbors. The Kurti people in turn use Mondropolon as a second language. Thank God that the neighboring Kurti people have portions of scripture in their language, including the books of Genesis, Galatians and 1 Timothy. See Kurti Baibel Introduction. Pray that these resources may be accessible to Modropolon speakers too through those who speak both languages well.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Like all Manus islanders, the people grow food crops, betelnut, cocoa and otherwise fish for their livelihood. Those who are well educated and employed in the cities or overseas often send remittances back home to their wantoks in Manus.

What Are Their Beliefs?

The vast majority of this tribe confesses Christ.

What Are Their Needs?

They profess Christ, but they don't have the printed or audio tools to learn more about him on their own.

Prayer Points

Pray that the Bible, either in audio or written form, may be translated into the Mondropolon language, starting with stories that are most relevant to their lives.
Pray for God's blessing on Mondropolon people whether they are in Manus or elsewhere.
Pray also for the safety of the people as they travel by sea to Lorengau and back again to access services or to sell their produce or fish.
