Introduction

Speakers of the Kota Bangun dialect of the Malay language reside in the central Mahakam River basin of East (Timur) Kalimantan, in the Kutai region. The first Roman Catholic mission was established in this locality in 1907. In the beginning of the 20th century the economy of Kutai flourished as a result of the establishment of the Borneo-Sumatra Trade Co.

Ministry Obstacles

This community lives in a remote region of Indonesia, and has little knowledge of who Jesus is.

Outreach Ideas

Pray for Kota Bangun Kuta families to be drawn to Jesus and to the Bible to find out more about this man, Jesus.

Pray for the Followers of Christ

There are few followers of Jesus among this Muslim people group, but pray for the many who will soon come to faith. Pray that the Lord will provide good pastors and teachers for them, and that they will follow the Lord with total commitment.

Pray for the Entire People Group

Pray for the Kota Banguin Malay, that they will soon come to a more correct understanding of who Jesus (whom Muslims call Isa al-Masih) truly is, and understand the significance of his death on the cross.
