Nepal and Finland established diplomatic relations in 1974. Relations between the two countries have been marked by friendship and cooperation.

Educated Nepalis in Finland work as engineers, managers and teachers. Students sometimes work on the side as cooks and waiters. Unskilled workers immigrating to Finland are required to pay for their jobs, and compensation for their work is often minimal. Sometimes they must accept the salary offered so they can pay back loans. This circumstance makes life and living difficult.

Nepalis in Finland are largely Hindus, the ancient religion of India. Hinduism is a catch-all phrase for the local religions of South Asia, so it is diverse.
