Introduction / History

The number of Nepalis in the United Arab Emirates has been about the same in recent years. Many live in Abu Dhabi.

What Are Their Lives Like?

About half of the Nepali workers in the UAE are in construction work. Some are security guards, and they have a good reputation for reliability. Others are hospitality workers. Most of the Nepalese are from the Madhesi people.

There is not a Nepali embassy in Dubai. Consular services are in Abu Dhabi.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Nepalis in the UAE are largely Hindus, the ancient religion of India. Hinduism is a catch-all phrase for the local religions of South Asia, so it is diverse. At the popular level, Hindus worship and serve the gods of the Hindu pantheon. They visit Hindu temples and offer prayers, food flowers, and incense to their gods hoping to gain protection and benefits. They do not have a personal or familial relationship with their gods like Christians or Jewish. There are other Hindus who are much more philosophical, especially among the Brahmins.

What Are Their Needs?

Their greatest need is to know their creator God, who has made provisions for the penalty of their sins so they can have a lifechanging relationship with him.

Prayer Points

Pray that God will give them dreams and visions leading them to Jesus Christ.

Pray that gospel materials and the internet will lead them to salvation.

Pray for them to have the spiritual discernment and hunger to seek and find Jesus.

Pray for a movement to Christ among the Nepalis of the UAE.
