Introduction / History

The Calabrians live in Italy, and they have their own language and culture. Their language is Napoletano-Calabrese. Their region is in the southernmost part of Italy, the part that looks like the toe of an old fashioned boot.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Calabrians live in one of Italy’s less prosperous regions. There are few entrepreneurs there to start new businesses. Their economy is also held back by the presence of organized crime. Largely agricultural, the people are conservative.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Typical of Italy, the Calabrian are almost entirely Roman Catholic, but they are becoming more secularized. Church is largely for weddings and funerals, not spiritual guidance.

What Are Their Needs?

The Calabrian need to look to Jesus Christ for true spiritual nourishment. He is the bread of life!

Prayer Points

Pray for Calabrian followers of Christ to disciple others in the ways of Jesus.

Pray for the Calabrian to give God praise for all he has given them and make gratitude an important part of their spiritual lives.

Pray for a Holy Spirit directed revival in Roman Catholic churches in Italy.
