Introduction / History

The Kobianas speak a language by the same name. They live in Guinea-Bissau and Senegal.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Extended families are essential for the Kobianas. Families are led by the oldest male, who might have multiple wives. Kinship determines inheritance, status, and political influence.

Though most are farmers and herders, some Kobianas are metalworkers. Men work in the fields while women raise children, cook, and make pottery to sell. They sell and trade pottery, textiles, and other goods.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Most Kobianas are dedicated to their traditional ethnic religion. There is a small Christian community among them.

What Are Their Needs?

Like most people of West Africa, the Kobianas need reliable, clean water and enough medical clinics to take care of emergencies.

Prayer Points

Pray for the Lord to provide for the Kobianas so well that they acknowledge his goodness and power.
Pray for the Lord to intervene among the Kobianas in Guinea-Bissau and Senegal in such a way that they will become open to accepting the lordship of Christ.
Pray for loving workers to go to the Kobianas.
Pray for a movement to Christ among the Kobianas that will spread throughout West Africa.
