Introduction / History

The Kemant are also known as the Qemants. They live in northwestern Ethiopia and speak Amharic, the language of government and trade in that country.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Most Kemants identify with the Amharic majority, but a small number retain their traditional name and culture. After having many killed by the majority people starting in 2015, some have formed armed militias.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Most Kemants practice proto-Judasim, which has its roots with King Solomon. They have a religious leader, a High Priest called the Wember. Yet they are associated with the Ethiopian Orthodox Church; they are officially Christian.

What Are Their Needs?

The Kemants need protection from those who wish to destroy them.

Prayer Points

Pray for the Lord to protect the Kemants so that they will give Christ glory and worship him.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to move powerfully in their churches, setting their spiritual focus on Jesus Christ and him crucified.
Pray that soon Kemant disciples will make more disciples.
