Introduction / History

Ancestors of the Fungor people lived in a village called Fungor in the Nuba Mountains. They have their own language, Ko, but most also speak Sudanese Arabic.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Most of the Fungor people are farmers who grow peanuts and sorghum. They also grow cotton as a cash crop.

What Are Their Beliefs?

They are Muslims. But like most Muslims in Africa, the Fungor also depend on the spirit world for their daily needs. They believe Allah is too distant to help them with practical needs.

What Are Their Needs?

The Fungor people need to be introduced to the Lord, who can meet all their physical and spiritual needs. He promises to take care of them, just as he cares for the sparrows. The spirits they serve greatly hinder their spiritual lives.

Prayer Points

Pray for African believers to have hearts that are willing to take Jesus to the Fungor people.
Pray for the Fungor people to have hearts that are open to the abundant blessings of Jesus Christ.
Pray for their families to prosper financially and spiritually as they experience a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Pray for a movement to Christ among the Fungor people that will spread joy, peace, and salvation to other peoples in East Africa.
