According to oral tradition, the Ega originated from Togo, from where they migrated as a result of internal conflicts. After several years of migration, they came to settle in their present location. Farming is their main occupation.
The Ega are found in the Divo prefecture of Sassandra Region, south cental Cote dÍvoire.
The Ega believe that that the spirits of the dead arevery much with them and could visist them at anytime. This explains why they do not wash the dishes of their evening meal, as one of their dead could visit and if not finding food to eat ,could at least lick the dishes. The Ega however claim to have been converted to Chritianity. In time past, the would meet every 1st of January to worship the sacred forest. at Hermankono, their main centre. This practice they claim is now outdated.
Because of the presence of seven denominations among them, the Ega do not need any new denomination But the churches among them need spiritual revival. there is also the threat of islam, whose influence is represented by the exixtence of seven mosques (at the time of this research was done).
Pray that Christian practice will be fully based on biblical truth rather than mixed with other beliefs.
Ask God to send spirit-filled teachers to the different denominations.
Pray that the gospel will be received with clear understanding.
