Introduction / History

About a third of this small people group live on the western shore of Lake Abaya, and the other two-thirds live on the islands of Gidicho and Welege. They used to hunt hippos, but now they fish, farm, and weave.

What Are Their Lives Like?

To reach the mainland, they use rafts made of light wood. The Baiso intermarry with the Harro people.

The Baisos are highly Christianized and they are mostly Evangelical.
