Mahishya in Bangladesh

Mahishya livelihood was originally based upon producing and maintaining crops and farmland. However, in recent years many have become skilled as engineers and successful businesspeople.

Ministry Obstacles

Mahishya people are almost completely Hindu in their religion. Hinduism is a very diverse religion involving many gods that dominate their lives and value system. They do not have a personal or familial relationship with their gods like Christians or Jews. They have no conception of the loving, almighty God who laid down his life to pay the penalty for their sins.

Outreach Ideas

Mahishya people have the complete Bible, audio and visual resources, and the JESUS Film in their spoken language, Bengali. These resources can be useful in helping these spiritually needy people to understand their need for Jesus.

Pray for those who have been blessed among today’s people group to boldly and lovingly tell others of God’s abundant mercy.

Prayer Focus

Pray for Mahishya households to begin to study the Bible and accept the blessings of Christ. Pray for a spiritual hunger that will invite them to the loving arms of Jesus. Pray for workers who are filled with the fruit and the power of the Holy Spirit to go to the Mahishya people. Pray they can communicate the desperate need we all have for the savior.
