Kalal (Hindu traditions) in Bangladesh

The Kalal cremate their dead and scatter the ashes in a sacred river like the Ganges. A Kalal priest leads worship, practices traditional medicine and prays to protect his people from evil spirits. The Kalal celebrate Hindu festivals like the birthday of Rama, a central Hindu god. During the British rule, the Kalal took up a variety of occupations, including trade, agriculture, military service, government service and law.

Ministry Obstacles

Jesus Christ laid down his life to pay the full penalty for the sins of these dear people. They are presently without hope of eternal life. They are relying on their worship and sacrifice to idols and evil spirits for their welfare now and in their future.

Outreach Ideas

New Testament, Bible portions and audio and visual resources, including the JESUS Film exist in Chittagong language of Kalal people in Bangladesh. These tools can communicate to those who can read and those who cannot read. God’s word can speak to them if Christ followers do their part by reaching out.
