Pashtun Yusafzai   yooz-ahf-SYE pahsh-TOON

There are at least 30 major Pashtun tribes and countless sub-tribes and clans. Spread over a vast geographical area and with socio-economic, political, tribal, and linguistic (dialectical) differences, Pashtuns nevertheless share a unique sense of common identity. More significant than differences in dialects is a Pashtun's primary loyalty to his particular social group (tribe or sub-tribe). One of these is the Yusafzai, one of the largest and most prominent Pashtun tribes. Their tribal loyalty supersedes their loyalty to either Afghanistan or Pakistan, their two major countries of origin.

Ministry Obstacles

Yusafzai Pashtun identity is centered around their tribe. There is no room in their hearts to put their identity in the one who is the solid rock, Jesus Christ.

Pray for more workers to serve among the Pashtun in education, business, healthcare, development, and other professional areas. Pray for an unprecedented spiritual hunger among the Yusafzai Pashtuns that will lead them to the cross and the empty grave. Pray for the production and distribution of all forms of media in the Pashto language. Pray for widespread distribution and understanding of Pashto Bible resources. Pray for healing in regions affected by tribal conflict and militancy.
