Banmanus   BAHN-ma-noose

The Banmanus people, indigenous to the forests of Uttar Pradesh, India, have a history deeply intertwined with the natural environment. Traditionally, they have lived as hunter-gatherers, with a profound knowledge of the forests and its resources. At home they speak a unique language, but most are also conversant in Hindi, the dominant language of Uttar Pradesh. Today they still collect forest produce, hunt wild game, and grow crops such as millet and vegetables. Their communities are close-knit, emphasizing family ties and communal living. They face economic hardships and limited access to modern conveniences.

Ministry Obstacles

The Banmanus community lives in remote parts of India where few others will go. Their self-sufficient way of life and wariness of external influences further limits interactions with outsiders. It will take time and unconditional love for Christ’s ambassadors to build trust.

Pray for loving workers who will stay with the Banmanus people until the gospel witness is solid among them. Pray for the Lord to give them a record-breaking harvest this year as a testimony of his goodness. Pray for the Lord to provide for the Banmanus people in such a way they will give him glory and praise. Pray there will soon come a day when Banmanus followers of Christ will disciple others in his ways.
