Segidi in India

Segidi in India

Most of the Segidi work in agriculture. Some of them own shops. There is a traditional caste council that looks after them and judges their disagreements. Boys are educated more than girls. The Segidi prefer cross-cousin and uncle/niece marriages. Widows, widowers and divorced can marry again. After the death of the father, the property goes to the sons.

Ministry Obstacles

When there are no Christians in one’s community, one is not likely to consider ideas coming from outsiders. The Segidi are not being challenged to consider their need for the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

Scripture Focus

"In that day the root of Jesse, who shall stand as a signal for the peoples—of him shall the nations inquire, and his resting place shall be glorious."  Isaiah 11:10

Scripture Prayer

Pray that today’s people group will soon allow Jesus Christ, the son of David, to be their banner of salvation.

Prayer Focus

Pray that Indian believers will regularly intercede for the Segidi and take the blessings of Christ to their communities. Pray that the Segidi council leaders will begin a movement to Christ in their villages. Pray for spiritual hunger among the Segidi. Pray for a movement to Christ among the Segidi.
