Galeshi

Galeshi

Galeshi is a dialect of the broader Galesh or Mandazi languages. Because of isolation in the hills of northern Iran, the Galeshi dialect hasn't changed as much as its parent languages. More Galeshi speakers are moving to cities, especially those from the younger generation. Those who remain in rural Iran are seasonal nomads, moving twice a year to make sure their herds have adequate grazing lands. As often happens with rural populations, men tend to take on the more physically demanding jobs, while women perform domestic tasks such as cooking.

Ministry Obstacles

Galeshi speakers live in a part of Iran that has few visitors. Most Christ followers in that country are from the majority Farsi-speaking community, who remain in urban centers.

Scripture Focus

"The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man."  Ecclesiastes 12:13

Scripture Prayer

Pray that many from this people group will understand that God is the one who gives our lives meaning and purpose.

Prayer Focus

Pray for the Lord to open opportunities for Galeshi speakers to hear and respond to the gospel. Pray for Galeshi family leaders to have dreams and visions of the Risen Christ, so they will seek the one who offers eternal life. Pray that soon Galeshi disciples will make more disciples. Pray for the Lord to look after their needs as many are moving to urban centers. Pray for Farsi speakers to take the opportunity to reach them in cities.
