The Adu are an interesting people group in that they have been officially included in the Yi nationality but speak a form of Yunnan Chinese. Today most Adu youth choose their partners. It is essential for a young Adu man to own certain possessions—like a TV, a motorbike and a refrigerator—to be considered attractive.
The majority of Adu under the age of 40 are nonreligious. At most, they observe customs relating to ancestor worship and they may clean their ancestors' graves once a year. Most elderly Adu retain their animistic practices and rituals.
In 1999, Global Recordings Network produced the first ever gospel message in the Adu language. We hope Christian believers will use this resource to take the gospel to the Adu for the first time.
"Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!" Psalm 100:4
Pray for this people group to enter His courts with joyful praise!
There are no known Christians among the Adu; pray this will soon change. Pray for the spiritual blindness and bondage to unclean spirits to be removed so they can understand and respond to Christ. Pray for the Lord to provide for their physical and spiritual needs as a testimony of his power and love. Pray that the Adu people would have a spiritual hunger for the King of kings. Pray for an unstoppable movement to Christ among them.
