Dutch Jew in Israel

The Netherlands received a large influx of Sephardic Jews from Portugal in the late 1500s, and another contingent of Ashkenazic Jews after World War II. They have been very influential in the development of Dutch commerce. Because of the Holocaust, many European Jews, including those from the Netherlands, emigrated to Israel. That Jewish homeland is now home to many Jews from the Netherlands.

Ministry Obstacles

Jewish people from the Netherlands are often suspicious of Christian believers. Some blame Christians in general for Nazi atrocities. It will be difficult to get beyond this.

Outreach Ideas

For religious Jews, God is the supreme being, the creator of the universe, and the ultimate judge of human affairs. They also believe the prophets of the Old Testament. Therefore, there are foundational beliefs that followers of Christ can start with.

There are few followers of Christ among the Dutch Jews in Israel. Pray for Messianic Jewish believers to get through to them in a way that will build a powerful church among those from the Netherlands. Pray for the Lord to break through any suspicion or hostility Dutch Jews in Israel might have for Christ followers. Pray for Dutch Jews to have a strong spiritual hunger that will lead them to seek and find their Messiah. Pray for evangelistic materials in both Dutch and Hebrew to become easily available to them.
