Kapu unspecified   KAH-ah-poo

In Telugu, the word Kapu means "protector." Over time, Kapu subcastes formed based on occupation, with those engaged in trade often referred to as Balija. Today, Kapus are spread across many fields—some working in industry, the arts, and education—while many continue to farm and maintain their agricultural traditions. Modern Kapu communities have also become more politically active, organizing unions and movements to protect their rights and preserve their way of life within India's caste system.

Ministry Obstacles

A major barrier for the Kapu is the fear that Christianity will pull individuals away from their families, traditions, and communities. This perception creates resistance and keeps many from considering what Christ might do to bless and strengthen their families as a whole.

Pray that God will pour out his blessings on Kapu families, bringing healing to broken homes and fresh hope to their communities. Ask the Lord to raise up a movement to Christ that touches both rural villages and urban centers where Kapus live. Pray that many will see Jesus not as a threat to their heritage, but as the only Savior who brings unity, dignity, and lasting life.
