The Lahu people live in China, Myanmar, Vietnam, Laos and Thailand. The Lahu Nyi are known as the Red Tai people in Thailand. They have a reputation for being expert hunters and trappers. They practice slash-and-burn agriculture. They also raise animals for ceremonial sacrifices.
Most of the Lahu Nyi follow animistic beliefs and practice ancestor worship. They construct temples for the spirits and gods they serve. The Lahu Nyi people are much more dedicated to their traditional beliefs than other Lahu subgroups.
Members of other Lahu groups have accepted Christ. They could be a bridge to reaching the Lahu Nyi with the gospel message.
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." Psalm 119:105
Pray that many from this people group will discover this to be true for their own communities.
Pray that this would be the decade when the Lahu Nyi people have their first fellowship of Christian believers. Pray for the hearts and minds of the Lahu Nyi to be open to the invitation of the Holy Spirit. Pray for them to turn away from the darkness of their spirit worship and surrender to Christ. Pray for a Lahu Nyi church to be established and for believers to boldly share their faith.
