Eritrean Tigre in Eritrea

The population of Eritrea is equally divided between Christian (Orthodox, Roman Catholic and Lutheran Protestants) and Muslim religions. The largest Muslim group is the Tigre, the only Eritrean or Ethiopian Semitic people which is not Orthodox. They are related to the Christian Tigrinya but are culturally distant from them.

Ministry Obstacles

Cultural barriers are high. These can be overcome, but it usually requires much time.

Pray for this people group to call out to the Lord to redeem them from sin, their main enemy.

Prayer Focus

Pray the Tigre would have sufficient food in an area that often experiences famine. Pray for rain and for improved living conditions. Pray for Tigre believers to become effective and fruitful in sowing God's word among their own families and communities to fuel a movement of God's blessings spreading from household to household. The few Tigre believers live in trying circumstances among their Muslim family and friends. Pray for them to be empowered by the Holy Spirit when they face opposition.
