The Bazigar are a Hindu people who live in south and northwest India. Their name Bazigar means “acrobat.” They are best known for performing music and dancing at Hindu festivals and major family events. Some of the Bazigar are also tailors, barbers and agricultural workers. The Bazigar have their own dialect of Telugu and speak Hindi and Punjabi with outsiders. They are a scheduled caste, which means they are eligible for special preference in public jobs and university admissions. Hindu background believers in south India can share the blessings of knowing Christ with the Bazigar.
Since many Bazigars participate in Hindu holidays, they may lose income if they become believers in Christ.
"Let me hear what God the LORD will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints; but let them not turn back to folly." Psalm 85:8
Pray that those who follow the Lord among this people group will never return to their old ways.
Pray that Bazigar elders would seek and find Jesus and lead their communities to know Christ. Ask God to deliver families and communities within the Bazigar from their fears which may hinder them from embracing his blessings. Pray for a movement of Bazigar households to study the Bible and accept the blessings of Christ. There are no known believers in Christ among the Bazigar at this present time. Pray for God to send believers to befriend them and give them the good news about Jesus. Pray that God would overthrow spiritual forces of darkness opposing the spread of his gospel in Bazigar families and communities.
