Tai Do

Tai Do customs show that they originated in a place far removed from their present location. The Tai Do are animistic, and traditionally, they must appease spirits in an attempt to gain blessings and avoid catastrophes. Members of the Tai Do ethnic group live in villages across several districts within Borikhamxai Province in central Laos. A small number live in neighboring Vietnam. Young adults among the Tai Do typically choose their spouses with their parents' consent. The groom's family must pay the bride's family a dowry, and he must leave his family's household and become part of hers. He then helps to support his bride's family with his earnings.

Ministry Obstacles

They need to hear the gospel from outsiders. An informant from Borikhamxai reports that a small number of Tai Do believers live in Laos. There may be no Tai Do believers in neighboring Vietnam. Few gospel materials exist in their language.

Pray God would call the Tai Do believers to live strong, faithful, and fruitful lives among their lost relatives. Ask God to spread the Tai Do church to all their villages, both in Laos and Vietnam. Pray for the Tai Do to have a hunger and thirst for righteousness. Pray for the Lord to send dreams to the Tai Do elders about the King of kings.
