The Jiiddo are said to be a sub-group of the large Digil people group in Somalia. Clashes between the Jiiddo and the Gare people have occurred in the past several years, over allegations of stolen cattle and camels and also because of land ownership disputes, which have resulted in a number of deaths. The Jiiddo live in round huts with mud walls and cone-shaped, grass roofs. The dress of both men and women closely resembles a Roman toga and is typically white or gray in color. The Jiiddo are virtually all Muslim. Although they are quite orthodox in their religious practices, few have a deep understanding of their faith.
Somalia is sometimes referred to as a failed country; there is much turmoil and danger in the country. Overt Christian witness is very risky.
Please pray for Christian radio to blanket all of Somalia in the languages of the people. Pray for the funding necessary to accomplish this, and for good quality programming that people will desire to listen to.
"Being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy;" Colossians 1:11-12
May new believers among this people group walk in joy and love in the Holy Spirit.
It is not likely there are any followers of Jesus among the Jiiddo people at this time. Please pray for Christians in the country of Somalia in other tribes. They live in very difficult and dangerous circumstances. Please pray the Muslims of Somalia will not gain satisfaction from their religion. Pray they will begin to desire to know the creator God in a personal way, and will come to understand this is possible through faith in Jesus Christ.
