Tidikelt Berber

Tidikelt Berber

The Tidikelt Berber are one of many groups of Berbers in North Africa. In the 7th century, Muslim invaders conquered the Berbers and introduced Islam. Berbers are generally bilingual, speaking both their Berber dialect and Arabic. The Tidikelt and other Berber tribes have sustained and preserved their own culture, customs, and social organization in addition to their dialect. For the Berbers, life revolves around important ceremonies such as births, marriages, and deaths. Their male-dominated society maintains pre-Islamic cultural and ritual traditions. Berbers are more likely to accept Christ than Arabs, who hold Islam as a central part of their identity.

Ministry Obstacles

The Tidikelt live in Algeria, a solidly Muslim country, where very few are willing to look outside Islam for spiritual answers.

Scripture Focus

"You shall serve the LORD your God, and he will bless your bread and your water, and I will take sickness away from among you. None shall miscarry or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days."  Exodus 23:25-26

Scripture Prayer

Pray that many from this people group will serve the Lord and receive His abundant blessings.

Prayer Focus

Pray for the Tidikelt to put their faith and hope in Christ, paving the way for a movement to Christ. Pray for a spiritual hunger among Tidikelt that will lead them to the cross and the empty grave. Pray for workers to go to the Tidikelt and find persons of peace who will welcome them into their communities with the gospel.
