Baangi in Nigeria
BAHNG-ee

The Baangi people have their own language, but like many ethnic groups in northern Nigeria, they also speak Hausa, the language of the dominant people in that part of the world.

Ministry Obstacles
Workers will find the area somewhat inaccessible during the rainy season and living conditions are primitive.

Outreach Ideas
Nigerian followers of Christ from other tribes can reach the Baangi tribe with the good news. The Lela and the Dakakari live close by and they already have a Christian presence.

Scripture Focus
"Jesus said to them, Is this not the reason you are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God?"  Mark 12:24

Scripture Prayer
Pray that this people group hungers for and learns the Scriptures. Pray that these people begin to experience the miraculous power of God.

Prayer Focus
As far as we know, there is not a single follower of Christ among the Baangi tribe. Pray for the Lord to raise up workers from among the Lela and the Dakakari tribes to reach out to these Muslims. Pray that workers would not stop until there is a powerful movement to Christ that would bless them spiritually and socially. Pray for workers to find "persons of peace" who will give them the opportunity to speak into this people group. Pray the Baangi tribe would be given a growing spiritual desire to find truth that will not be satisfied with anything less. Pray for peace in northern Nigeria.
