Duun in Mali
doon

The majority of the Duun practice various ethnic religions and many are also Muslim. Like many other West African tribes, the Duun worship dead ancestors. They also believe that the "supreme god" is too distant to worship directly and that, therefore, the only way to serve him or to worship him is through a spirit. Consequently, Duun will worship a statue or another object they believe contains a spirit. The spirit, in return, will supposedly give worship to the supreme god on behalf of the Duun individual.

Ministry Obstacles
There is no scripture reported for the language of the Duun nor are other Christian resources available. This will make it especially difficult to win and disciple people in this tribe.

Outreach Ideas
Duun hearts and minds need to be prepared to understand and believe. Pray for spiritual openness during this time when few missionaries can go to them.

Scripture Focus
"The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him."  Nahum 1:7

Scripture Prayer
Pray that this people group takes refuge in the Lord.

Prayer Focus
Pray for peace in Mali. Pray also for adequate rainfall for the crops and livestock. May the Duun know the God who can draw so close to them that he can dwell in their very hearts. Pray that they understand the goodness and power of Christ and be drawn to him, family by family.
